iPower $2.95 Domains with Free WHOIS Privacy Sunday, Apr 2 2006
Domains 7:58 pm
Update: Like most things that don’t suck, this deal didn’t last forever. Luckily, the link will still forward to their $6.50 domains, which is still a pretty good price.
Okay, I guess paying less than $3 for a domain isn’t amazing anymore, since Yahoo has gone as low as $1.99 and some hosts give you a free one when you sign up for hosting, but…
What’s different about the iPowerWeb deal is that your $2.95 gets you both the domain AND free WHOIS privacy.

Well I just researched all of this mess for myself and I just came about your question. all those great deals are chamms. they get you hooked for 1 year for a cheap price then every year after that they charge like 10 to 20 dollars just to keep it. If you transfer it. It will cost you there normal yearly price. I wouldnt go for the cheap price so I went with Namecheap.com and used the coupon code: EVENLOWER. it brang me down to $7.99 for the first year. the next year it will be $8.88.
Yahoo cost alot per year. Remeber the saying “If it is to good to be true than it is”
Actually, when Yahoo did the first run of $1.99 domains, they’d let you pre-pay up to 5 years at that price. I should have taken better advantage of that!
The Godaddy/Namecheap/etc… coupons depend on the deal. Some of them knock it off of your total, so you can save on more than one year. Those guys are fairyly cheap with their regular prices, so saving a little bit the first year is still okay if it’s a place you’d do business with anyway.
Then the cheapo deals like iPower are for one year, but you can transfer to whichever company has the best deal at the time before the year’s up. I’ve bounced a few around like that before.
Then, when all else fails, you just transfer to your own reseller account.
I use Directi for that, but there are other like Enom.
